This pin-up concept is entirely American. The pins that secured them to the wall are the origin of the term "Pin-up" (see the history in the book co-written with B. Joubert, which we offer for sale on the site).
Ranging from the size of a postcard to that of a poster, the same drawing could have multiple formats. Initially, they did not contain advertisements; later, they appeared in the form of blotters, calendars, etc.
It’s almost impossible to find a bad illustrator!! Could perfection exist in this world? Let's remain modest, hedonistic, and enjoy the beautiful things, happiness is not more complicated than that!
